Six kinds of deer can be stalked, including Sika, and trophy red stags. You may also come across wild boar, feral goat, and Arapawa ram. Poronui’s 16,000 pristine acres are good for more than just hunting and fishing - many come to trek the Taharua Valley, Kaimanawa and Kaweka Ranges, and Mohaka River on horseback. The terrain varies through forests, grasslands, and streams; listen to the songs of native birds as you climb the rolling hills, and have your breath taken away by the view from the top. Single day or afternoon rides are plentiful, or head out to Poronui’s luxury campsites for a multi-day expedition.
